I'll be honest. Since I was born in 1936, and lived through much of the era covered in this series of short detective stories, I have "rationed" my reading of the Cooper short stories to one, after each lengthy book I complete. They are a treat I award myself, since I can relate to the time and events covered by Mr. Bernico. Even remember seeing those Bogart films in their first showing! I've enjoyed every one of these tales, and just like a fine box of chocolates, I know the box will eventually be empty, but suspicion that I will start re-reading them all over again once I complete this series the first time through. Read all the multi-packs and shorts packs long ago, since 2012. The author has gotten better with age/practice. I've read almost all of the Cooper stories (1 - 230) and several of Mr. Bernico's short stories and most have not disappointed me. You'll find some poorly written or predictable stories, but for the most part they are fair to good. The Cooper series are better, but there's a few stinkers, too. They're great for a coffee break or a few minutes to relax.
